Fourth graders aren’t supposed to play like this.
But Hunter Dunnavan isn’t your average fourth grader — he’s one of the most electric young scorers in the entire 2034 class. Playing both his own grade level and up with the 5th grade, Hunter has already built a statewide reputation as a fearless lefty shot-maker with deep range, high-level IQ, and a motor that never shuts off.
And his most recent weekend performance?
26 made three-pointers and 136 total points across two tournaments.
In the same weekend.
At 10 years old.
Louisville has a young phenom on its hands.
WHY HE STOOD OUT
Hunter doesn’t just score — he takes over games. Coaches, parents, and even opposing players talk about the same things:
- Elite confidence for his age
- High basketball IQ & leadership
- Deep three-point range
- James Harden–style stepbacks
- Crafty finishes with either hand
- Lockdown on-ball defense
- Playmaking vision well beyond his grade
He sees the floor, makes the right reads, creates space, and knocks down shots from way behind the line. His ability to consistently hit deep threes and still mix in floaters and crafty drives makes him nearly impossible to guard.
Opposing spectators often can’t believe what they’re watching:
“Nobody can guard him!”
“That #24 is a dawg!”
WHAT HE DID
Across two tournaments in a single weekend:
- 26 three-pointers made
- 136 total points
- Led multiple teams in scoring and energy
- Played 4th grade AND 5th grade — dominating both levels
His consistency as a scorer and floor general has made Hunter one of the most sought-after young guards in the region, with teams trying to recruit him daily.
COACH & PARENT QUOTES
From AAU Coach Logan Paugh (LPC Creators):
“Hunter may only be in 4th grade, but his game is YEARS ahead of his age. He has elite IQ, high-school vision, three-level scoring, and is a 94-foot problem for any defender. When he’s out there, he has an energy you can’t teach. He has a motor that never takes a day off.”
From His Father & School Coach, Chris Dunnavan:
“One thing I always tell Hunter is: if it was easy, everybody would be out here doing it. But it isn’t. Greatness comes with great cost, and I believe in him. I’ve seen him practice daily, sometimes several times a day. The sweat, the tears, the grind — it’ll pay off if he really wants it. Even at just ten years old, he inspires me to be better.”
Hunter’s work ethic is as impressive as his skill. He is constantly in the gym, constantly improving, and carrying himself with the hunger of a player chasing a dream — and taking the right steps to make it real.
PLAYER OVERVIEW
Hunter is currently ranked #1 in Kentucky (Class of 2034) and is quickly gaining recognition beyond state lines. His combination of shooting, confidence, and skill development makes him one of the most exciting young guards in the Midwest.
As he continues to develop physically and expand his playmaking abilities, his ceiling only gets higher. With his mindset, motor, and support system, Hunter has the tools to be one of the top long-term prospects in his class.
