Player: Andrew Steinberg
Class: 2035
Hometown: Deer Park, New York
Height / Position: 4’5” PG / SG

In an era where exposure often comes before substance, Andrew Steinberg is doing it the opposite way — stacking production, experience, and clutch moments long before the spotlight finds him.

A left-right capable combo guard with advanced feel, Steinberg has already crossed the 1,600 career point mark and has been averaging 20+ points per game since 2nd grade AAU. His résumé at such a young age is built on volume, consistency, and late-game control — traits that don’t show up by accident.

Built on Reps, Not Recognition

Steinberg has primarily competed in local AAU circuits, suiting up for programs including Mauie, Premier 3rd, Premier 4th, and Lightning, while also helping local AAU teams free of charge and competing with Sports Arena Green Knights (10U & 11U). Despite limited national exposure, his production has been undeniable.

He scored 20 points in his very first organized basketball game as a first grader — on a 10-foot rim — and never slowed down. From there, the scoring totals kept climbing:

  • 42 points in a single game
  • Multiple games of 34, 33, 32, 31, 30, and 29 points
  • Four documented game-winners already
  • Over 10 games with 30+ points
  • 30+ made threes as a 2nd grader

Simply put, the ball has been in his hands — and the results have followed.

Game Control & Clutch Gene

What separates Steinberg from typical youth scorers is control. He dictates pace, understands clock situations, and consistently delivers when the moment demands it.

In one standout performance, his team trailed by eight points with under three minutes remaining. Steinberg responded with 10 straight points, capped by a game-winning basket with two seconds on the clock, finishing with 31 of his team’s 34 points.

He doesn’t just score — he ends games.

Defense, Pressure & Two-Way Impact

While the scoring numbers jump off the page, Steinberg’s defensive activity often sets the tone. Across multiple seasons, he’s averaged 10+ steals per game, applying relentless on-ball pressure and turning defense into immediate offense.

During his time with Empire AAU, he averaged 20 points per game and accounted for roughly 95% of his team’s total scoring output over multiple seasons — a rare workload for a player his age.

Training & Work Ethic

Steinberg’s development is no accident. He trains daily with his father, a routine that has been consistent throughout his life. Over one summer alone, he made 200 free throws every single day, building both muscle memory and mental toughness.

Currently a 3rd grader, he plays up with Mauie and routinely practices with 6th graders, continuing to challenge himself physically and mentally.

The volume of shots he’s taken — thousands upon thousands — shows up in his confidence, range, and poise.

Range, Creativity & Feel

Offensively, Steinberg is known for:

  • Deep shooting range well beyond the arc
  • Tight handle with frequent ankle-breaking separation
  • Natural scoring instincts off the dribble
  • Comfort playing both point guard and shooting guard

The experience level stands out. He’s seen every defensive look possible at his age — and already knows how to counter it.

Exposure Is Coming

While Steinberg has yet to be evaluated in person by major scouting services, the buzz is starting. ESPN has already taken notice — reaching out via TikTok and posting two of his highlight videos to their SportsCenter platform.

For a player who has largely stayed local, that kind of organic recognition speaks volumes.

Projection

Andrew Steinberg is widely viewed by those around him as a Top 5 talent nationally for his age, with the résumé, scoring profile, and clutch performances to support that belief. As his exposure expands beyond local circuits, his name is one evaluators will need to know.

The production is already there.
The experience is already there.
The spotlight is just catching up.
