Funkhouser first made waves competing on the boys side, playing a key role on Team Mayo’s second-grade squad that captured a national championship in Rock Hill, South Carolina. That championship team has since evolved into what is now known as Patterson Elite, further highlighting the level of competition and development she has been part of early on.
Now competing strictly on the girls circuit with West Virginia Thunder, Funkhouser has elevated her game even further. Known for her relentless defensive pressure and physical style of play, she has quickly built a reputation as a true “ball hawk” — constantly disrupting opposing offenses and creating opportunities for her team.
Her dominance was on full display at the Bracket Sports “I Got Next” Tournament in Huntington, West Virginia, where she led her squad to a championship while stuffing the stat sheet with 14 points, 6 steals, and 5 assists. Her ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor proved to be the difference throughout the event.
