Montes showed encouraging development with Team Hustle (PA) at the Hoop Group Fall NXT Gen Circuit, competing in the 2031 division as a seventh grader. He appeared comfortable handling point guard responsibilities against older players, showing confidence with the ball and a good feel for organizing the offense.

Montes demonstrated his ability to facilitate, finding teammates in scoring positions and doing a good job involving his bigs through pick-and-roll opportunities. His decision-making and willingness to make the extra pass were positive signs, while his perimeter shooting gave him another way to contribute offensively.

Defensively, Montes brought an aggressive approach. He took pride in his on-ball assignments, applied pressure, disrupted opposing guards, and created turnovers. His ability to stay engaged defensively while also managing the responsibilities of running an offense made for an encouraging weekend.
